Agency Approaches to Therapy

At Insight and Empowerment, LLC we provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples, family and group settings for the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment, anger, suicidal thoughts, self-harm thoughts or behaviors, substance abuse issues, personality disorder, stage-of-life transitions and grief and loss. Clients are assisted by gaining insight and awareness of thoughts, emotions and behaviors and finding skillful ways of coping with life stressors and their environment to improve their quality of life.

We understand the effects of changes, stressors, adjustment and trauma on individuals, couples and families. We also know recovery is possible and that individuals have the power to overcome trauma, we can overcome its effects, we have resiliency and growth and self-actualization is possible. We understand it often takes many years for individuals to seek help and avoidance is paramount due to painful emotions and memories. We maintain an empathetic and compassionate approach that is non-judgmental and non-shaming as this is necessary in trauma recovery. ​Self-compassion and mindfulness techniques are emphasized for healing as well as practiced in therapy. 

​We strongly believe that we can overcome interpersonal trauma, heal from the effects trauma has had on one's life, through increased insight and awareness, validation of our emotional experiences, we can empower ourselves and live a full integrated life and feel whole again.
